MY LOVE

MY LOVE

The songs I write, the words, the tunes seem to fall out of the universe like the song is already written out there, and I am the one given the honor of writing it down.

Triggered by an old memory, something that someone says or does, these songs appear out of the universe, like low hanging grapes, ripe for picking.

And picking we do…. No pun intended. Or maybe intended. Now as I listen to this song, I am drawn back to that day in high school. I was hanging out with a couple of buddies at the doorway to the classroom when I saw her walking down the hall with some of her friends. But all could see was her. Pulse quickened, mind went to mush, mouth went dry. All I could muster was a quiet “Hi”. As I watched her walk on down the hall, she turned, took a quick look, giggled to her friends and then she was gone around the corner. While I prefer my good ol’ country tunes and styles, this song turned into an old Soc Hop melody from the early 60’s which is about time when all of the above happened.

I recorded this song up in Nanaimo, BC at the studio of Mr. Rick Salt. Rick felt the concept and energy of this song immediately, added his incredible musical talents along with some great Doo Wop vocals, a few hired musical guns and here we are with a great song. To start, I recorded a scratch track of this tune and left the completion of the project in Rick’s hands allowing him and his team to use their imagination and talents to fill things out. Great contributions from all involved.

Just a fun little diddy that will bring back some memories for us all.
