I think for anybody who has ever dreamed about music, there is something magical about hearing the words:
“Your song has been added to radio.”
That sentence still feels unbelievable to me.
When I first picked up the guitar later in life, I was simply hoping to learn a few songs and maybe play for friends, family and whoever might listen at an open mic. Never in my wildest imagination did I think one day I would hear that my own original music was spinning on radio stations across Canada.
Yet here we are.
I want to send out a huge and heartfelt thank you to the wonderful folks at the Canadian Indie Country Countdown for adding Highway Life to the countdown. To have my song included alongside so many talented independent country artists is truly humbling.
Country music has always been such an important part of my life, so being welcomed into the Canadian independent country music community like this means more than I can properly put into words.

I also want to send a very special thank you all the way north to CKLB Radio 101.9 FM in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories — “The Voice of Denendeh.” The thought of Highway Life travelling up through the north and being played for listeners in Yellowknife absolutely amazes me. (CKLB Radio)
Radio has always held a certain magic for me.
Growing up, hearing songs on the radio made the world feel bigger somehow. Music coming through those speakers could make you dream, make you laugh, make you cry or make you feel less alone while driving down some lonely stretch of highway.
And now somehow… my song is part of that experience for somebody else.
That is a difficult feeling to describe.
A younger version of me would never have believed this.
Actually, the current version of me is still trying to believe it.

One thing I continue learning through this journey is that music truly connects people across incredible distances. From Vancouver Island to Nashville to Yellowknife… songs somehow travel where we cannot.
That thought fills me with gratitude.
So today, I tip my hat and say thank you to every radio programmer, DJ, listener, supporter and independent music champion giving artists like myself an opportunity to be heard.
Another Dream List item quietly checked off.
And honestly… hearing my song on the radio still sounds a little bit like magic to me.
